Die rechtsgewinkelte SATA-Verbindung ermöglicht das Anschließen einer Serial ATA-Festplatte an schwer erreichbaren oder engen Stellen, während das kompakte und flexible Design des Kabels die Luftzirkulation verbessert und Kabelsalat in Computergehäusen reduziert, sodass das Gehäuse sauber und kühl bleibt.
Alternativ bietet StarTech.com auch ein 45 cm langes, linksgewinkeltes SATA-Kabel an (SATA18LA1), das sich genauso leicht installieren lässt wie das rechtsgewinkelte SATA-Kabel. Es wird jedoch von der entgegengesetzten Seite an die SATA-Festplatte angeschlossen.
