Output Modes
With FiiO R7, you get the flexibility to easily integrate the device in many different contexts, without creating a tangle of cables. On the front panel you have a round switch that changes the "mode" you use:

PO: Enables only the headphone connections on the front (6.3/4.4mm and 4-pin XLR for headphone listening).

LO: Activates only the audio outputs on the back (Fixed max volume if you are going to use the R7 as a pure streamer).

PRE OUT: Activates only the audio outputs on the back (Variable volume if you are going to use the R7 as a streamer/DAC/PREAMP).

PO+PRE OUT: Activates both the front and rear audio outputs (Variable volume for listening to both headphones and speakers).

User interface
A vertical touch screen with a built-in Android-based operating system is installed on the front panel. This makes it possible to use all the apps that you normally find on your smartphone. In addition, the unit is ROON READY. One also has many other digital modes to choose from based on how you want to use the device:

Android Mode: Download and use your favorite apps: (Tidal, Qobuz, Spotify, Youtube etc.).

Pure Music Mode: Use FiiO's own music player where you can, among other things, play downloaded files.

USB DAC Mode: Receive digital signals from Tablet, Mobile, Computer. Very responsive mtp for movies and gaming.

Bluetooth Reciever Mode: Supports LDAC/SBC/AAC for receiving bluetooth signals.

Airplay Receiver Mode: Receive signals wirelessly from Apple products.

Roon Ready Mode: Roon Ready certified.

Coaxial/optical decoding mode: Receive digital signals via Coax and optical inputs.

With these possibilities, you can easily find countless ways to listen. If you stream from Roon and want to switch from headphones to speakers, turn the switch on the front panel. Do you have a hard drive or an SD card full of high-resolution files? Just plug them into the back and build your library. Send a song from your phone? Use bluetooth or Airplay. R7 supports micro-SD card up to 2 TB, Bluetooth 5.0 with reception of SBC/AAC and LDAC, transmits SBC/AAC/aptX/aptX HD/LDAC/LHDC.

FiiO R7 supports remote controls that operate on the bluetooth protocol if you want to remotely control the volume from a distance. You can also upgrade the power supply with the FiiO PL50 to get even better sound.

5 Gain levels with raw power
The R7 has 5 levels of gain: low/medium/high/over-ear headphone/enhanced over-ear headphone mode. With a load of 32 Ohm on the latter, the R7 manages to deliver 3.6W in each channel. In other words, the device manages to power everything from the most sensitive earbuds to the heaviest headphones without breaking a sweat. With 2x THX AAA 788+ amplifiers and built-in ES9068AS DAC, you get ultra-clean and detailed sound without additional colouring. These are superior components for reproducing high-resolution audio.

A simple solution for many demanding needs
FiiO R7 handles countless tasks by being able to use it as: receiver, streamer, DAC, amplifier, preamp and storage device. Very efficiently, it manages to combine all these functions in a compact format, where the necessity for many connected devices disappears.
