Das 10GBASE-T SFP+ Transceivermodul bietet die für den SFP+-Formfaktor bekannte Flexibilität und Portdichte und nutzt strukturierte Cat 6a UTP-Verkabelung für die Netzwerkkonnektivität. Es handelt sich um eine energieoptimierte Lösung für Längen bis zu 30 m, die im Vergleich zu einem äquivalenten eingebetteten 10GBASE-T RJ45 für dieselbe Länge (Cat 6a, bis zu 30 m) eine minimale Energieeinsparung von mindestens 0,5 W pro Port ermöglicht. Diese Energieeinsparungen können sich bei ToR-, Mid-Row- und End-of-Row-Switch-Konnektivität summieren.
Es handelt sich um eine Alternative zu SFP+ SR/LR-Glasfasern, die standardbasierte Technologie mit dem bekannten RJ45-Stecker verwenden und Abwärtskompatibilität mit älteren Netzwerken bieten.
