Canon's signature bubble jet technology is used for printing. This technology heats and partially vaporizes the ink in the print head. The resulting gas propels ink droplets, each just a few picoliters in size, from the print head onto the paper. The Pixma Pro-200PL's print head operates at a resolution of 4,800 x 2,400 dpi and with eight different colors. The tanks are individually replaceable.

The Pixma Pro-200 prints an A3+ photo in 90 seconds under test conditions. The printer can print borderless up to A3+ (329 x 483 mm) on media with a maximum weight of 380 g/m².

Skew correction is one of the new features of this printer series. This correction ensures that skewed paper is aligned and printed straight. This results in cost savings when using expensive paper. Speaking of paper types: The Pixma Pro-200PL can be used with the Media Configuration Tool, which allows the storage of various ICC paper profiles in the printer. The Media Configuration Tool originates from Canon's ImagePrograf printers in the professional segment.

In addition to the Media Configuration Tool, the Pixma Pro-200PL comes with the free "Professional Print and Layout" software, designed to support photographers from capture to print. The software is also available as a plug-in for Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop, and Canon DPP.

Thanks to Wi-Fi, LAN, and USB interfaces, the Pixma Pro-200PL can be supplied with data in a variety of ways. The printer also supports direct printing from cameras and smart devices. The Canon Pixma Pro-200PL will be available from November 2020 for approximately €486 (including 16% VAT).
