Elegoo Rapid PLA+ Filament - Black

ELEGOO Rapid PLA+ in black is a reinforced PLA formulation designed to combine the easy printability of PLA with substantially improved mechanical properties. Compared with ordinary PLA, Rapid PLA+ exhibits higher tensile strength (≥60 MPa vs. <40 MPa typical for standard PLA) and markedly greater elongation (~19% vs. ≈8%), which translates to finished parts that are tougher, less brittle and more impact-resistant. These characteristics make it a strong choice for working prototypes, functional components, and parts that must endure handling or light mechanical load.

Dimensional quality and spool handling
Manufactured to a tight diameter tolerance of 1.75 mm ±0.02 mm and evenly wound on a 1 kg spool, the filament ensures smooth feeding and predictable extrusion behavior. Each spool is delivered vacuum-sealed with a desiccant packet to reduce moisture absorption during storage and shipment — essential for preserving print quality and preventing bubbling or poor layer adhesion.

Print performance & high-speed capability
Rapid PLA+ is optimised for higher-throughput printing: its melt behavior and flow characteristics support elevated print speeds while preserving layer bonding and surface finish. Typical extrusion temperatures fall in the 200–230 °C range (start around 205 °C and tune for your machine), and a heated bed at 50–70 °C improves first-layer adhesion. Although the filament is marketed for high-speed applications (printer-dependent; some workflows report much higher head speeds), practical print speed should be tuned per model geometry and printer hardware to balance detail, resolution and mechanical strength.

Recommended settings & tips
• Nozzle: standard 0.4 mm recommended; larger nozzles (0.6–0.8 mm) may be used for very fast, coarse prints.
• Temperature: 200–230 °C (adjust in 5 °C steps); start at ~205 °C.
• Bed: 50–70 °C; use glue stick, PEI or blue tape if needed for adhesion.
• Cooling: moderate part-cooling helps surface finish; reduce cooling for large, solid parts to improve interlayer strength.
• Retraction: tune to reduce stringing at higher speeds; lower retraction distance and increased speed often suit Rapid PLA+.
• Drying: if filament shows popping or poor finish, dry spool (e.g., 40–50 °C for several hours) before printing.

Applications & compatibility
Well suited for functional prototypes, tooling, fixtures, mechanical housings, larger display pieces and multi-part assemblies where toughness and reliability are important. Works on virtually any 1.75 mm FDM printer that supports the specified temperature range. Always perform a short calibration print when changing spools or printers.

Storage & safety
Keep the spool sealed when not in use; store in a dry place with desiccant to maintain optimal print performance. Avoid ingesting or prolonged skin contact with heated polymer extrudate. Dispose of material per local regulations.
