The BCM4313 is a system-on-a-chip (SoC) that combines the MAC, PHY, and radio functions for IEEE 802.11n wireless networks. It is designed for use in PCI Express WLAN clients that can take advantage of Broadcom's second generation solution to achieve high throughput and extended range. The device is also compatible with legacy IEEE 802.11b/g devices.The BCM4313 supports industry standard security protocols such as WPA, WPA2 (802.11i), and hardware accelerated AES encryption/decryption, as well as TKIP, IEEE 802.1x support, and a WLAN Authentication and Privacy Infrastructure (WAPI) hardware engine.Embedded hardware acceleration improves system performance while reducing host-CPI utilization in both client and access point configurations.
